Mercy Chelangat of Alabama placed second in the NCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championships, covering the 6-kilometer layout in 19:29.3 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. Chelangat, who won the national title March 15 in Stillwater, Okla., helped Alabama finish 15th overall with 428 points.
